Damaraland Off-Road

You don’t have to be a professional for this tour nor do you have to have any off-road experience, but a good, experienced driver who wants more than just straight gravel roads will prefer this tour. There is always enough time for photo stops or breaks. If the route becomes demanding, I will be at your side with tips and advice. The Damaraland is unbeatable with its varied landscape. The tour can also be booked without camping and rather lodging. Non-motorcyclists can also accompany the tour with a rented Toyota Hilux 4×4.

Day 1

We will pick you up at the airport or from the hotel. Opportunity for shopping or a late breakfast. In order to save us the journey on asphalt, gravel road and through fenced farm landscape, we transfer to Omaruru by bus where the motorbikes are waiting for us in the River Guesthouse. In Okahandja we make a stop and have a look at the African wood carving market.

Accommodation: River Guesthouse with dinner

Day 2

After a short gravel road, we turn off for off-road fun on extended jeep tracks. Thick bush, some sand, stony passages. When we approach the dry river we look out for elephants.

Accommodation: Camping or luxury tent with breakfast and dinner.

Day 3

We continue to the northwest through a Mars-like mountain landscape until we reach a dry river. On the way, we make a stop at fossilized trees that were washed ashore here at a different climate time. When we reach the dry river, we will be on the lookout for the legendary desert elephants. Accommodation: camping or luxury tent with breakfast and dinner

Day 4

Today we leave everything at the campsite and do a round trip. We have to refuel at a remote gas station. The tour is extremely varied: first, we will try our hand at a dune, then on jeep tracks through stony mountains and in the dry river some water passages await us. Lunch break at a stone age cave. Accommodation: camping or luxury tent with breakfast and dinner

Day 5 We visit some cultural highlights. The UNESCO World Heritage Site Twyfelfontein, with its rock engravings that are up to six thousand years old, and we let Damara’s ethnic group show us how they used to live. After lunch at the Twyfelfontein Lodge, there is an off-road stage to the Brandberg. The White Lady Lodge is located at the foot of Namibia’s highest mountain.

Accommodation: Camping or luxury tent/room, with breakfast and dinner

Day 6

We take another round tour. Today it is about the mighty Brandberg. The jeep tracks lead us through different volcanic rock formations. We will stop for photos more often as there are beautiful sights to see. For lunch, we have a break at the restaurant before the last third of the off-road stage lies ahead of us.

Accommodation: Camping or luxury tent/room, with breakfast and dinner

Day 7

This stage takes us along the dry river. Wind-eroded rock formations and a magnificent view over the river valley will impress us. We follow the jeep tracks through the desert landscape to the mine site of Uis.

Accommodation: room with breakfast. Dinner at own cost in the restaurant

Day 8

Today the Spitzkoppe mountain range with its magnificent rock formations is waiting for us. In the distance, you can already see it, but until then it is still a varied route. In the early afternoon, we are at the Spitzkoppe and we have the opportunity to look at the rock arch and the impressive rock formations.

Accommodation: Camping or luxury tent with breakfast and dinner

Day 9

The rough Atlantic coast is calling. On the off-road route, we cross the Namib Desert. In the small coastal town of Hentiesbay we will refuel and make our way to Swakopmund. The many excellent steak and fish restaurants invite you to have dinner in the fresh Atlantic air.

Accommodation: Room with breakfast. Dinner at your own expense in the restaurant

Day 10

This morning we have time to look at this German-influenced town and have breakfast in one of the many cafés. There is also the opportunity to visit the museum or the crystal gallery or take part in other activities. In the afternoon we ride quads through the huge dune area of Swakopmund.

Accommodation: Room. Breakfast and dinner at your own expense in the restaurant

Day 11

Today the route leads back to Windhoek. The route is an asphalt runway, always straight ahead. Therefore we load the motorbikes onto the trailer and transfer you to Windhoek. Opportunity for shopping in the city.

Accommodation: Room. Breakfast and dinner at your own expense in the restaurant. (Joe’s Beerhouse)
